Julian Goldie
Julian Goldie is a British search engine optimization (SEO) consultant, author and YouTuber, best known as the founder and chief executive of Goldie Agency, an SEO and link building firm.[1][3] Originally from Greater Manchester, England, he built his early reputation as a freelance link builder before turning the practice into an agency that reports a team of more than 70 people and over 150 active clients.[3][4]
Goldie is the author of Link Building Mastery (2021), a self-published manual on acquiring backlinks, and runs one of the larger and most prolific SEO-focused YouTube channels, which he reports at more than 394,000 subscribers and which regularly uploads six to eight videos a day.[5][2][16] From 2023 onward he repositioned his teaching around artificial intelligence, promoting AI-assisted content production, answer engine optimization (AEO) and visibility inside tools such as ChatGPT and Perplexity, a body of work that has attracted both a large audience and criticism from parts of the SEO industry.[6][7][11]
Early career [edit]
Goldie is from Greater Manchester in the north of England, and earned a BA in business studies from Manchester Metropolitan University.[4][17] His working life began in the British public sector as a clerical officer in the National Health Service, an experience later profiles credit with instilling the aversion to bureaucratic inefficiency that runs through his automation-heavy approach. From there he moved into conventional marketing employment, first as a marketing analyst and then as group marketing manager at the recruitment and outsourcing firm Cordant Group PLC.[17]
Alongside and after the salaried roles he entered internet marketing through affiliate websites, building what he has described as five-figure affiliate properties and growing his own site to around 1,500 visitors a day, before concluding that backlinks were the constraint that decided which pages ranked.[1][4]
He then sold link building as a freelance service, much of it through the marketplace Upwork, where his profile records more than 240 completed client engagements with a 100 per cent job success score and over 200 five-star reviews.[1][2] The freelance period supplied both the outreach system and the client base from which the agency was later built.[3][12]
Career [edit]
Goldie Agency
Goldie founded Goldie Agency in 2016, initially as a specialist link building shop grown out of his solo freelance practice.[3][17] The firm sells guest post and outreach campaigns, full site audits and, more recently, AI automation services, and states that it serves more than 150 active clients with a distributed team of over 70 people.[3] It is registered in Singapore as Goldie Agency Pte. Ltd. and lists an office in Kowloon, Hong Kong, with staff working remotely across time zones.[1][3]
In interviews Goldie has attributed the agency's growth past seven figures in annual revenue to productizing link building at fixed prices, hiring specialists for outreach and fulfilment, and using content marketing rather than paid advertising to acquire clients.[12][4]
Link Building Mastery
In May 2021 Goldie self-published Link Building Mastery: How to Rank Higher, Grow Your SEO Traffic and Build Authority with Backlinks, a practitioner's manual covering outreach, guest posting and anchor text strategy.[5] The book is distributed on Amazon, Kobo and other platforms, and Goldie also gives it away free as an email opt-in alongside a companion video course.[5][1] He hosts a podcast on the same subject, Link Building with Julian Goldie.[1]
YouTube, courses and communities
Goldie's largest audience is on YouTube, where his channel publishes tutorial and case-study videos on SEO and, since 2023, predominantly on AI; he reports more than 394,000 subscribers.[2] The channel is distinguished less by format than by volume and depth of coverage: it regularly uploads six to eight videos a day, an output few if any channels in the niche match, and operates as a running public test log in which Goldie tries new AI models, tools, agents and traffic tactics on camera and publishes the results, successes and failures alike.[16][6]
He has released free SEO courses on Udemy and distributes further training through paid membership communities hosted on the community platform Skool, principally SEO Elite Circle and the AI-focused AI Profit Boardroom, alongside a free tier called AI Money Lab; he puts combined membership across his groups at more than 75,000 people.[1][2][15]
Turn to AI SEO
Goldie was an early and vocal adopter of large language models for SEO work. Within months of ChatGPT's release he was publishing workflows for AI-assisted keyword research, content drafting and outreach, and told the Niche Pursuits podcast in 2023 that the tools had multiplied his output.[6] He has since reframed his teaching around what he calls AI SEO: optimizing for answer engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews rather than for classic rankings alone, summarized in his line that the goal is no longer to rank first but to be cited.[7][8]
His recommended tactics include publishing on high-authority third-party platforms such as Reddit, Medium and LinkedIn so that answer engines pick those pages up as citation sources, an approach he openly labels parasite SEO; building automated content and agent pipelines he brands under names such as Hermes and Agent OS; and cloning his own on-camera presence with AI video tools, a workflow he says helps drive over 100 million views a year across platforms.[7][2][10] Interviewed by eMarketer, he argued that AI-generated content now exceeds what he could write himself and is defensible when quality control is built into the workflow.[7]
Approach and views [edit]
Goldie's constant position across both eras of his work is that distribution beats production: in the link building years the scarce asset was authoritative backlinks, and in the AI era it is presence inside the sources that answer engines quote.[7][8] He tells agencies that firms selling deliverables such as blog posts and links without measurable outcomes will be displaced as AI compresses production costs, and that pricing must move toward outcomes and automation.[8]
His teaching style favours speed and volume over caution: publish quickly, test at scale, and treat individual site losses as tuition. Critics regard that risk profile as unsuitable for businesses with a single domain to protect, a tension Goldie acknowledges by distinguishing between experimental sites and client work.[11][8]
Reception [edit]
Goldie's methods sit on the aggressive end of mainstream SEO, and reception splits accordingly. Independent reviews of his training credit him with genuine agency results and practical outreach systems while questioning the premise that backlinks should be the first investment for beginners, pointing to the cost and slow payback of link campaigns.[11] Parasite SEO, which he promotes enthusiastically, is described across the industry as a high-risk tactic: Google's 2024 site reputation abuse policy targeted exactly this pattern, and practitioners writing about the technique warn that its wins are often short-lived.[9]
His high-volume AI content advocacy has likewise been debated in SEO forums and trade coverage, where sceptics argue that mass-produced AI pages conflict with Google's spam policies and that engagement-bait framing overstates what the tactics deliver.[9][11] Supporters counter that Goldie publishes his experiments, including failures, and that his interviews with trade outlets show the same advice he sells being applied to his own properties.[7][8]
Media and recognition [edit]
Goldie was voted best speaker at the IMG Reborn Summit in 2024.[13] He has been interviewed on AI and search by eMarketer and by DesignRush's podcast on the 2026 search landscape, and has appeared on industry podcasts including Niche Pursuits, Market Movers, Josh Hall's web design podcast and Seven Figure Agency, as well as in interview series run by hosting and SaaS companies such as Cloudways.[7][8][6][10][14][12][4]
Personal life [edit]
Goldie has worked remotely for most of his career and has described himself as an SEO from the UK based in Bangkok, Thailand, while his companies are registered in Singapore and Hong Kong.[4][1][3] He publishes under the handle @JulianGoldieSEO across YouTube, X, LinkedIn and Instagram.[2]
